A Veteran Moves On, Kungen Retires

Posted in Ensidia by Starym at Monday, May 9, 2011, 20:40

After so many years and so many accomplishments, as many of you have noticed through rank changes, forums etc., Kungen has quit the game. Guild leader of Nihilum from beginning to end, co-guild leader of Ensidia, the amount of World firsts he has  achieved is dizzying and, having played with him myself, I can only say I'm sad to see him go.

Kungen:
I've been playing since the release which was about 5 years ago and that's quite a long time. The first year the game was a 5 of 5 to me, the second a 4 of 5, the third a 3 of 5... You can see where this is going, I just don't enjoy the game the same way anymore. And so after having thought about it for a while, I finally decided that it was time to call it quits.

Mek:
The guild is going to continue normally, with me, Mackzter, Ekyu and Caleb in the leadership and with Ekyu as the Main Tank on his Warrior. As always, all the decisions will be made by all of us in the leadership.

Kungen leaving, while sad, isn't going to impact the guild and its performance. Our resolve and motivation is as strong as ever and with the good roster we have we are going to be even better than we have been so far.

Ekyu:
While most of you know me as the Mage Class Leader of Ensidia I have also always been pretty active on my alts, getting World Firsts on them (Kil'Jaeden with my Warlock and ToC Immortal with my Warrior). For a time at the end of WoTLK I almost officially switched main to Warrior, and that's basically what is happening now.

With Kungen gone I will be picking up the role of Main Tank and more of a leadership role in the guild. Essentially this changes nothing for the guild as I have always been involved in those roles, even if not officially. I won't stop playing my mage and will, of course, still share my knowledge of the class. I look forward to this change and seeing how this will play out for us in the coming Firelands raid!

We'll have a more extensive interview with Kungen in the coming weeks.

    +1 Flirr!
Otherwise, to troll a bit (because there is no good topic without trolling) ... Who knows? Maybe this is the biggest fake ever in the history of WoW! (in response to all these trolls on manaflask's forums!)
    :P

Must agree with Dac :) The game hasn't been much fun since Vanilla and the Burning Legion days!

Kungen made a good point. I'm quiting too now. This article made me realize how much the quality, skill required, and content have diminished. (In my opinion) I love my mage, shaman, and paladin but i'm tired of the game too. I just don't find any fun in it outside of raids. I'll just watch Ensidia Live Streams now : D

I've heard a lot of times that although no doubt good enough to be in Ensidia anyway, what made you, Kungen, really stand out from the crowd, is your fantastic leadership.

Bigbeefy, the druid Ensidia scouted about six months ago and who joined (although briefly, he felt he had to go back to support his previous guild) was my guild- and raid leader and is a good friend of mine. I also know a rogue who played in Nihilum for a while during BC. They both confirm this, and say that you're great in..pretty much every aspect. A great leader who knows his playing and helps everyone. That gives me great respect for you.

Every story has an end, now it's your time. Lycka till i livet. :)

Although Kungen leaving game doesn't really affect myself. It is the loss of one of, if not, the most iconic tank ever. From his crappy music to this playful tanking style. He made it look damn good. I will miss his stream thats for sure. BABY BABY OH BABY.

    Best of Luck Kungen

I wonder what happens first, he actually posts his Pure PC review or comes back to game.

Well it's quite clear that u must lead on the level on what u really are born to. Of course self-motivation and practice etc. is important to some extent, but it's important to realise what u realy can do well and what u cant. Any person realistic enough will understand this.
