Continuing after the progress in Firelands is done, it's Danish Death Knight time! Borlax shares his thoughts and opinions on WoW and the rest.



Start at the beginning, give us a little info on who you are, where you're from, what kind of music you like, your hobbies etc., you know that kind of stuff.

Hello my name is Miklos also know as Borlax/Snorlax ingame, I'm 23 years old and live in Denmark. I'm into trance, dubstep and rock atm. In my spare time when I'm not playing wow I like to hang out with my friends, drink some beers go out etc. that kind of stuff.


Give us some background on your WoW "career" so far, the guilds you've been in, any achievements up till now (and no, server first Hogger doesn't count) and anything else you'd like to mention about your pre-Ensidia phase.

I started playing the game and raiding casually in wotlk around when ICC was out, back then I was in a casual raiding guild called Pandora on Nagrand as alliance. o.0 I quickly wanted more from raiding and applied to the best guild on the server wich was also in the transition of going horde and switching server to Al Akir, so I followed Heretic to Al Akir and was raiding there for tier 11. We werent super hardcore or anything but we did manage to get a world 50ish Magmaw hc wich opened my eyes to hardcore raiding, since that was the only boss we pushed for really and aimed high. After some serious thinking I decided if I was going to play this game I would do it amongst the best so I took a shot, made an application and here i am.


Your favorite raiding instance in World of Warcraft.


That would be ICC, it was during that time I started raiding and I loved progressing through the bosses in there. I think that place had a lot to offer, a lot of different and fun encounters. Then of course the big boss of the expansion the Lich King, wich still is one of my favorite fights, the only thing I disliked about ICC was the limited attempts on heroic.



What was your favorite 5 man dungeon?


I would have to say Stoncore. Spent most of my time in there leveling to 85, love the design of the place and think it looks amazing, and the boss fights as well are pretty well made. I still remeber the first time I had to tank Ozruk, I got owned!


During what time in World of Warcraft did you have the most fun? Feel free to share any memories you might have.

That would be when I first started raiding in ICC. It was a complete game changer, when I got my first taste of raiding. Killing a boss for the first time with a bunch of other people and the nerd screams after you finally killed it was one of the best feelings you could get from playing a game. Back then we had 3 groups progressing through ICC 10 man heroic and since I was new I got put into group 3, but it didnt take long before we overtook the other two groups and that compettion between our 3 teams was soo much fun. After that we turned to 25man raiding and cleared everything up untill Lich King where it began to fall apart, wich was a shame and  I have lots of fond memories of my first guild Pandora.


Do you have any favorite people you used to play with back in the days, any anecdotes about them?

Shammyzap aka cant see the goo bringing group 3 to glory.
Kay Lets just poke this dragon (rolfstomped) did die in the end tho.
Killzalot and his epic tanking on LK walking off the platform.
Prize goes to my fellow DKs back in Heretic, Haxwaffles and Mcjay for killing themselves countless times on chimmy with Unholy frenzy. Should have gone frost, just saying :p


What games do you currently play outside World of Warcraft and are there any upcoming games you are looking forward to?

Atm I'm not playing much besides wow, only the casual ps3 gt5 battle with friends and in general wow is the only pc game I play, otherweise it's ps3.
I used to play a lot of Diablo 2 and I cannot wait untill they release Diablo 3. I will for sure be playing that game.


How much do you currently play World of Warcraft (main, alt, raids) and does the game still get you excited?

At the moment it's around 5-6 hours 5 days a week I'd say, I have a fair few alts wich I'm really enjoying to play. I like being able to play something different from your main when I get bored and tired of that character, and apart from questing I like leveling new alts as well.
Of course I still get excited, wouldn't be playing if I didnt, I love raiding with a group of people, interacting and having fun on vent and such, still makes me want to play the game.


Favorite person in the guild and why?


Well there's a few. Calippo, love his humor. Daniie and Kenny, awsome guys and Ekyz always saying funny s**t, Caleb and his beer talk can always make you laugh as well.

What's the most important thing you need for you to perform at your maximum level during raids?

A good night of sleep is number 1 when you're raiding progress and you don't get any sleep in between raids, you won't be performing to your max so that is very important. Food, snacks etc., having that prepared in advance is a huge plus, raiding hungry aint fun. And lastly, music. Especially if I know you have a long raid day infront of you I make a long playlist to get me through the day :)


How do you feel about the talent system?


I dont like it that much. I miss the old times where you could make hybrid specs and mix it up. I don't like the fact that you have to pick a set talent tree and fill it out before you can start spending points in the others, and the new filler talents as well seem like a waste to me.



Tell us a bit about your class as it is now.


Well, after 4.2 the two dps specs Unholy and Frost seem quite balanced wich I'm happy about. They both have a lot to offer and different playstyles, Frost has gotten some nice changes throughout Wrath and Cata, best thing was dualwielding by far, the playstyle has gone from being a set rotation to a more rng based playstyle and with the haste stacking it has become a button mashing spec. I prefered the Frost spec as it was in wrath.


How did you prepare for Firelands?


Bought lots of food, snacks and smokes and also made the perfect playlist. ;) Stocked up ingame as well on pots food flasks ofc and then loads of ptr raiding, reading through the encounter journal and that's pretty much it.


What's your favorite encounter in the Firelands?


Ragnaros hc even though we had tons of wipes on it. I just loved it all the way, was a good encounter with some fun and interresting mechanics and also a very tough boss, wasn't a pushover at all, just how an endwing boss should be.


Your overall opinion of the Firelands raid?


The first 6 bosses where abit too easy in my opinion, but otherweise some fun fights with some interesting mechanics. The only boss I dislike is Lord Rhyolith, those legs of his are retarded >.<
And I have to say 7 bosses for a tier isn't really enough, will get tired of those soon enough. The only boss that has been a challenge in there is Ragnaros.                                                                                                                                                         


What's your favorite change to your class throughout WoW history?


That would be when they implemented dual wield for Death Knights, right up my alley, I believe it was 3.1 patch that brought that change. I loved the playstyle of Frost back then. I also like the new 4.2 change to Unholy, bringing it back to where it should be. Would love to see them bring back Blood dps tho, but doubt we will ever see that again.


If you could pick another class to be your main, what would it be?


That is a tough one, might be my Druid. I enjoy playing that one a lot, the class has a lot to offer, you can play all roles as Druid wich I like. It's like a swiss army knife, can be used for anything. :)


Are you happy with the direction Blizzard is taking World of Warcraft?


Both yes and no, I don't like what they have done with the raid id. The fact that you can't raid 10 man and 25 man anymore on the same character is just stupid in my opinion, only being able to raid an instance once every week is not enough. Otherwise I like how the game has become more playerfriendly and the new dungeon queing system is ace, not having to pug a five man anymore is much appreciated. The raid content has become better as well in my opinion, I love the new encounters.
